About Us
Welcome to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Community. We are located in the village of Depew, town of Cheektowaga, one mile from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. (You can see the control tower from our back lot.) We were established as a parish on July 15, 1965 by Bishop James A. McNulty who appointed Msgr. Joseph F. Coughlin as the first pastor. With the help of surrounding parishes and St. Mary's High School, Sunday Masses were celebrated at various places until under Msgr. Coughlin's leadership a church/school complex was built and Mass was celebrated for the first time in the new church on November 13, 1966. Since those humble beginnings, OLBS today is a faith community of 1305 families and a school of 177 students. We try to provide something for everyone and thereby encourage the participation of all. A listing of societies and committees may be found under the heading "Parish Organizations".
Our Mission Statement Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Community strives to promote and celebrate the values of the gospel by offering an environment through which all believers can experience the word, prayer, and the sacraments of the Catholic Faith. We recognize the diversity of all people and encourage our members to work for the good of all. Our vision is to draw others to our faith by providing a positive role model of a loyal, caring, concerned, and socially committed community that welcomes all people.
